Digital strategy and sustainability important topics for the future of the jewelry and watch industry

In the run-up to Inhorgenta in Munich, the trade fair asked two renowned jewelers about their assessment of the market development, as Blickpunkt Juwelier reports: Anja Heiden from Wempe and, representing the watch industry, Dominik Maegli from the Swiss company MAEGLI.

Heiden is pleased with sales in the jewelry industry, which indicate an increased interest in jewelry that is stable in value, now that people can once again shop at their local jeweler after two years of pandemic.

On the other hand, as Dominik Maegli explains, the watch industry is in a state of upheaval, as the gap between small retailers and those experiencing extraordinary growth is widening. 

According to the two experts, digital strategy is becoming increasingly important for companies. For jewelers, online shopping offers the opportunity to create an additional "shop window" on the Internet alongside the local retail store.

It is also hardly surprising that sustainability is playing an increasingly important role, especially for young customers, according to Heiden. Maegli can also confirm this trend for the watch industry.
