Statement on the interview in the Goldschmiede Zeitung issue 6/22

Statement zum Interview in der Goldschmiede Zeitung Ausgabe 6/22

After the publication of our interview and advertisement in issue 6/22 of Goldschmiede Zeitung, some industry participants approached the editorial office because questions arose regarding the term "MANUFAKTURDIAMANTs".

Mr Henselder (Editorial Office of Goldschmiede Zeitung): Some industry participants approached us after the publication because they were bothered by the term "MANUFAKTURDIAMANTs ". They said that this could be misunderstood and that the stones could be mistaken for diamonds from mines that are processed in a manufactory. The world jewellery association CIBJO has agreed on the term syntheses. In the USA there are also the terms Lab Grown or Man Made Diamonds to make it clear where they come from.

Mr Henselder: Has anyone already contacted you about this?

After the publication, we received a lot of positive feedback from the industry, as it is now important to many jewellery manufacturers to offer their customers sustainable diamonds of impeccable origin. It is currently apparent that the established suppliers find it difficult to prove that diamonds do not originate from Russia. MANUFAKTURDIAMANTs are admittedly a new product on the German market and it is of course important to us that we transparently prove the values of these diamonds to our customers and ensure that we do not supply mined diamonds.

Mr Henselder: What do you say to that? Do you see any danger of consumer deception?

We do not see any consumer deception with our product name "MANUFAKTURDIAMANT®" but correctly name the manufactured diamond. On the contrary, it would not be correct to call a diamond mined in a mine "manufactured" or "manufactured diamond". Diamonds are an incredibly emotional and exclusive product, regardless of whether they come from a mine or a manufactory. To call manufactured diamonds "synthetic" would be a clear consumer deception, because MANUFAKTURDIAMANTs are made of pure, crystallised carbon and are no more synthetic than diamonds from a mine. Since we do not want to market diamonds with non-existent properties, we use the term "MANUFAKTURDIAMANT®", which is unambiguous for the consumer. Why the World Jewellery Federation CIBJO ascribes a synthetic property to the manufactured diamond is beyond our knowledge.

With MANUFAKTURDIAMANTs, DIAVON wants to consciously define what diamonds have earned - value and uniqueness. Here it is important for the industry to be able to prove and document the origin of each individual diamond through transparency. In contrast to the diamonds from the mines, our MANUFAKTURDIAMANTs go through an easily traceable value chain. We are proud of the fact that we are able to produce our MANUFAKTURDIAMANTs in high-tech production facilities, such as the Diamond Foundry, in a 100% climate-neutral and conflict-free manner and then process them into genuine pieces of jewellery using traditional craftsmanship. Sustainable, transparent and real diamonds.
